Days and Hours Open
Banner House Museum will be open from June 20th
to October 17th
Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM until
4:00 PM

Members: Free
Gift Shop
We offer a wide selection of unique craft and
gift items, including Appalachian books, pottery, knitting,
woodworking, children’s books and toys, nature
guides, baskets, soaps, and much more. Visit the
shop after touring the museum or just visit the
shop. No admission charge applies to shop-only
visits.
Walking Tour
Self-guided tours of the historic district of
Banner Elk are recommended. CDs are available
for rent for $5 each at the Banner House Museum.
Parking
Parking is available in the adjacent parking
lot of the Lees-McRae College athletic
facilities, as available. Parking is also
available at the Mill Pond.
Accessibility
The ground floor and the Museum Shop are
accessible to wheelchairs.
Getting to the Banner House Museum,
7990 Hickory Nut Gap Road, Banner Elk, NC 28604:
From the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce,
follow NC 184 south for approximately one mile
and turn right on Hickory Nut Gap Road. After
you cross the bridge, you will see the museum on
your left.
From the Avery County Chamber of Commerce,
take NC 184 north for four miles. Turn left
on Hickory Nut Gap Road. After you cross the
bridge, you will see the museum on your left.
